Every one can learn box. It does not matter if you are 10 years old, or 70 years old. It does not matter if you are out of shape and haven't worked out for years. Our mission is to help you achieve your fitness goals through technical boxing training. In our training and classes, we emphasize on teaching the proper boxing techniques. It means we teach proper boxing stance, how to throw punches correctly, and the science and theories behind boxing. With proper techniques and a a good understanding of the theories, not only does it make the workout more effective and enjoyable, it also prevents you from injuries. Our coaching staff are made up of some of the most experienced boxers, and coaches in Canada. You will be learning from trainers who has lived it and know what it means to be a boxer. Our trainers have coached and competed inside and outside the ring with great success. We teach a time and tested system of Central American boxing passed down from Carlos Varela Sr and that tradition. We have trained many successful athletes throughout the years. And you can be one of them!

Personal Training

A personal training workout using traditional boxing training methods. This type of training offers a way to train like a boxer, taught by one of our experienced RingFit Trainers.

Semi-Private Training

A semi-private training workout using traditional boxing training methods. Pair up with a friend or family member and hold each other accountable with one of our RingFit Trainers.

Group Training

Boxing-based athletic training taught in a group environment. Training consists of basic boxing techniques and fundamentals including: Core strength, balance, coordination and speed.

Boxing Classes

Our Team

Stephan Boyd


Stephan Boyd has over 15 years experience in boxing, self-defense, weight management and fitness. He is formerly a member of both the Canadian National Boxing team and the Jamaican National Boxing Team. He has represented both countries competing internationally and boxing on 3 different continents. He has trained with some of the nation’s leading fitness experts, conditioning trainers and coaches and have learned from them all. He has competed with and against some of the very best fighters in the world, including current and former World Champions. In 2010, he fought twice, knocking out one opponent and decisively defeating a Commonwealth Games Gold medalist and Pan American Game silver medalist. He is currently the NABA Canadian middleweight Champion!

Carlos Verela Jr.

Lead Trainer / Coach

Carlos Varela Jr. has been involved in boxing his entire life. The son of accomplished champion and trainer Carlos “Kid Varelita” Varela, boxing is in his blood. Carlos Varela Jr. has trained four Canadian national champions and many provincial champions. He has coached for the Canadian National team and has worked ringside for numerous national, international and professional fights. Carlos is now with RingFit, using his vast knowledge and experience to help people reach their fitness goals. Carlos specializes in total fitness, technical and competitive boxing, and core and torso training. Carlos has a passion for fitness and works with a diverse clientele. He has the experience, knowledge and motivational push to help you be your best.

Richard Reittie


Richard has been a long time athlete since high school. Originally from Jamaica, Richard has established an extensive boxing career. He has been training in boxing for 17 years including competing for Team Canada. He has trained and competed with the best in the world in Jamaica, Cuba, Colombia and México. Richard pursued boxing in order to live a healthier lifestyle and used this discipline to challenge himself. To date Richard has a record of 11 wins including 7 KOs, 4 losses and 2 draws. Richard joined RingFit in 2015. His training method specializes in using body resistance. Richard’s personal regimen to prepare for his fights would be to train every day before and after work. He understands the physical challenges and the mental endurance it takes to succeed in reaching goals. Nowadays he finds motivation from his two boys to be a good role model to them.

Shavar Henry


Shavar is always a natural athlete and excelled in any form of physical activity. He played baseball, ran track and field, played basketball and football throughout his high school years. At 17, he was introduced to the sport of boxing. He fell in love with it instantly. As soon as he put on his first pair of gloves, every muscle in his body, and every neuron in his brain just knew what to do. He began his amateur training with Olympic silver medalist Egerton Marcus at the Egerton Marcus Boxing Academy. He learned the fundamentals of boxing from Coach Egerton. But more importantly, he learned about discipline, one of the hardest skills to master in boxing. With his passion, hard work, and dedication, he won Silver in the Junior Men’s division at the 2004 Canadian Boxing Nationals. As his amateur training progressed, he moved onto train with Olympic Bronze Medalist Chris Johnson. Shavar won Gold for Ontario at the Canadian Boxing Provincials in 2005. He had to take a break from boxing due to an injury to his dominant right hand. After his recovery, he moved on to train with Peter Wylie at the Cabbagetown Boxing Club. He fought through all the obstacles from his injury and won Gold in the Senior Men’s division at the 2010 Canadian Boxing Nationals. Shavar turned professional in 2013. His goal is to become the Curiserweight Champion of Canada.

Dylan Shvili


Dylan has been with us teaching since 2019. He has over half a decade of training with Ringfit. Dylan started competing in boxing events throughout the city in 2017 and is still presently an active fighter… He loves the sweet science! HIs father played pro basketball but Dylan did not inherit his height… and to tell you the truth, we’re glad he didn’t. One great characteristic about Dylan is he gets just as enthusiastic working with others as he does training himself. Specializing in boxing training but also a wicked endurance, conditioning and cardio trainer. Mixing abstract methods and interval training with a little taste of whatever that’s days specialty might be to create a Frankenstein of a workout and leave you with just the right amount of technical work and sweat! He’s also an excellent cook. Ask about his smoked Salmon…

Samantha Chan


Sam has been boxing since 2017. She has been active all her life. She participates in many sports and physical activities. She loves running, hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, swimming, yoga and many others. However, nothing compares to her passion for boxing. After her first training session with a boxing coach, she was hooked to the sport. In the last few years, she has spent much of her time training in boxing, going from a complete newbie to now sparring in the ring! She loves it so much that she has switched career from being an IT professional of 20 years to a personal trainer and boxing coach. Having seen the profound health benefits boxing has provided for her. Her goal is to spread the joy of boxing to others.

Sam is a graduate from Humber College’s Fitness Fundamentals Certificate program. She is a certified Resistance Training Specialist (RHEP) with the Ontario Fitness Council. She is Boxing Coach in Training, pursuing her boxing coach certification with Ontario Boxing Association.
